Erick Jorell Reyes, a two-time Emmy Award-winning Studio Operations professional for ESPN, passed away on January 11, 2025, at the age of 42. Erick’s life, though shortened by a brave battle with cancer, was marked by dedication to his family, his career, and his community.

A Life of Passion and Achievement

Born on January 10, 1983, in Manhattan, NY, Erick was the cherished son of Frederick Reyes and Lydia Vazquez. He grew up with a passion for excellence, which he brought to his esteemed career at ESPN. His commitment to his craft earned him two Emmy Awards, a testament to his talent and dedication.

Family and Legacy

Erick is survived by his beloved wife, Sara Reyes; his mother, Lydia Vazquez; his father, Frederick Reyes, and stepmother Nora Reyes; and his sister, Layla Rascona. He also leaves behind extended family members, including his aunt Rosie Patiño, uncle Robert Garcia, and many nieces and nephews, along with his ESPN colleagues who were like family to him.

Services and Tributes

To honor Erick’s life, calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at O’Brien Funeral Home, Bristol, CT, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Erick’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the UConn Cancer Center – Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center Fund.

Erick’s legacy will continue to inspire through the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the extraordinary work he accomplished in his career.
